PASAY CITY – AMA University opened the 25th Sta. Lucia Land National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) with an explosive 93-61 humiliation of Philippine Merchant Marine School Tuesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.  Andre Paras came in good as advertised and delivered 15 points, 20 rebounds and six blocks in 38 minutes of action to key the blowout.

The Titans jumped to a 16-0 lead and that was all she wrote as the stunned Mariners could not find the hoop for the first six minutes.  Carlo Garcia and Genmar Bragais provided the offense and Paras teamed up with fellow big men Owen Graham and Joseph Celso in pounding their smaller opposition into submission on defense which resulted to easy offense.

Garcia and Bragais took turns at putting out one-man scoring runs with both finishing with similar 18 markers each.  Celso also hit double figures with 11 followed by Graham with 10 points and 17 rebounds.

So dominating were the Titans that they led by as much as 34 points late in the game, 90-56, and the outcome long decided.  A key factor also was AMA’s control of the inside by grabbing 61 rebounds compared to the 41 of PMMS.

Starting guard Kurt Sunga paced PMMS with 14 points.  Marvin Manatad came off the bench to add 12 points all coming from the three-point line.
