PARANAQUE CITY – Newcomer Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa registered a rousing debut by routing National College of Business and Arts, 65-53, in the second day of action from the 25th Sta. Lucia Land National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) at the A. R. Valdez Hall of PATTS College of Aeronautics Friday (December 8). The Marshalls showed no mercy in leading all the way as they pounced on the many errors of the Wildcats.
Remart Argana got things going by hitting three triples in the opening period as PLMun broke away from the game’s lone deadlock of 4-4. NCBA had a tough time getting their game going as they at one point had more turnovers than points scored.
The Marshalls would go on to lead by as much as 26 points in the third period, 53-27, but the law of averages caught up with them to allow the Wildcats to make a slight cut in their deficit. NCBA actually outscored PLMun in the final canto, 16-7, but the hole they dug in the first half was too much to overcome.
Daniel Austria came off the bench to fire a team-best 14 points, including five to keep the Marshalls afloat in the fourth period. Argana did not score again after the first period but still notched 10 markers.
Carls Richard Duenas paced NCBA with 10 points including a layup at the final buzzer. He was followed by Jay Detubio with eight points and eight rebounds.
